How I Run a Successful Herbal Business Working 20 Hours a Week

(Yes, While Homeschooling and Raising Littles Too)

Yes, you read that right.

I run a full-time herbal business while also homeschooling, managing my home, and raising my children—and I do it in 20 to 25 hours a week.

It’s not because I’m Superwoman. It’s not because I hustle 24/7. It’s because I learned how to build like a biblical CEO. If you’ve been feeling burnt out trying to do everything, this is your 4 a.m. wake-up call.

I’m sharing exactly how I make it work—and how you can, too.

Principle 1: Wake Up Before the World Does

My goal is to wake up at 4 a.m. Not because I love mornings (especially with a baby who doesn’t sleep through the night), but because I crave quiet time before the house wakes up. From 4 to about 6:30 a.m., I pray, journal, check my team updates, outline content, and knock out my high-priority tasks.

Those early hours are sacred. No noise, no distractions, no questions. Just clarity, focus, and diligence. When I don’t start my day with Yah and structure, the whole household feels it.

Action Step: Start by waking up just 30 minutes earlier. Use that time to get in the Word and map your top 3 tasks for the day.

Principle 2: Give Each Day a Purpose

Every day in my week has a theme so my brain doesn’t get scattered. Here’s a simple structure that you can adapt:

 Monday: Content creation + filming

 Tuesday: Product or curriculum development

 Wednesday: Meetings + team check-ins

Thursday: CEO tasks like finances + vision planning

 Friday: Strategy + Shabbat prep

 Saturday: Rest. Fully.

Sunday: Family planning + personal projects

This keeps me focused. When I sit at my desk, I already know what I’m working on. No wasted time, no guesswork.

Action Step: Assign a focus to each weekday. Even 2–3 themed days can drastically reduce overwhelm.

Principle 3: Delegate What Doesn’t Need You

This was hard at first, but delegation is everything. One VA manages emails, DMs, my inbox, and schedules. Another handles my content—scheduling across platforms, posting blogs, and repurposing material. I hire freelancers for bigger projects like design or Pinterest.

I made a list of everything I do and asked:

  •  Does this move the business forward?

  •  Can someone else do this cheaper or faster?

That’s when I realized: I’m the talent. I need to show up, film, record, and teach. But I don’t need to be tweaking Canva graphics for three hours. And neither do you.

Action Step: Make a list of your weekly tasks. Put a dollar sign next to what drives revenue. Cross out what can be outsourced.

Principle 4: Cut Out the Distractions

I don’t scroll randomly. I don’t answer every call. I don’t say yes to every opportunity. My phone stays on Do Not Disturb. My team has office hours. My time is protected.

Most people say they don’t have time, but they haven’t looked at where it’s leaking. Social media. TV. Mindless tasks. You can’t complain about not having time if you haven’t put up boundaries.

Action Step: Choose one distraction to cut this week—whether it’s scrolling, late-night TV, or unscheduled calls.

Principle 5: Track What Actually Matters

Everything I do is tied to four things:

1. Revenue

2. Visibility

3. Client results

4. Long-term business growth

If it doesn’t support one of those, it’s not a priority. I check my numbers. I review what’s working. I don’t operate on emotion, I operate on metrics and mission. If you’re exhausted, but still not seeing growth, you’re probably busy, but not effective.

Action Step: Track your last 5 work sessions. What did you actually do? What moved the needle? What could’ve been skipped?
