How to Stop Using Google for Herbal Info (And What to Do Instead)

Let me go ahead and say it: Google is not your herbal teacher.
Scrolling through articles, copying Pinterest recipes, piecing together blog posts from people you don’t know—that’s not learning. That’s survival-mode herbalism.
If you want to actually heal your body, help your family, and become a trusted herbalist, you’re going to need more than search results.
So in this video, I’m going to break down:
Why Google is failing you (and could be hurting people)
The difference between info and wisdom
And what to do instead—especially if you're serious about biblical, holistic healing

The Problem with Google
Let’s start by taking a common scenario: You search “herbs for hormonal imbalance.” What does Google give you? A list of 10 random herbs. But here’s the problem—Google doesn’t ask you the important questions.
Are your hormones high or low?
Is your liver congested?
Are the herbs warming or cooling for your body?
These are all critical details that you need to consider, but a quick search won’t tell you that. The surface-level information that Google provides can lead to ineffective or even harmful results. Without the ability to ask the right questions and have a deeper understanding of your body and the herbs, you'll end up just guessing, which doesn’t really heal anyone.
Knowledge vs. Wisdom: Why You Need More Than Just Facts

Now, while there’s a ton of herbal knowledge available online, there’s one key ingredient that’s often missing: wisdom. Too many people with little experience in herbalism are sharing their opinions on the internet, giving out advice that lacks important details—like dosages, contraindications, and how herbs actually work.
I’ve seen people recommend cayenne for hot skin rashes, peppermint for every digestive issue, and vaginal steaming when what’s actually needed is a liver detox.
These recommendations sound catchy, but they don’t take the whole picture into account. Without wisdom, herbalism becomes a guessing game, and your results will be unpredictable at best. Knowledge is important, but wisdom helps you apply that knowledge in a way that truly heals.
The Danger of the Memorization Mindset

Google also fuels the mindset of memorizing herb names and their uses. This is a huge mistake. If you’re just trying to memorize hundreds of herbs, you’ll quickly become overwhelmed, and that’s how most people give up before they even really get started. True herbalism isn’t about memorizing—it’s about understanding patterns, methods, and systems.
Instead of trying to remember every herb, focus on learning the foundations, such as the actions and energetics of herbs, the body systems they support, and the stages of illness they address. That’s how you become a true herbalist.
Check out our selection of newly added classes that teach you this holistic way of applying herbalism. Start with our Holistic Healer Bundle to learn how to link symptoms to systems, and our Immune Defense Month class to learn and identify the three stages of illness.

The Wisdom of Proverbs 15:14
I want to share a powerful scripture from Proverbs 15:14: “The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge, but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.” This is so true when it comes to herbalism. Google is full of “foolishness” because people are consuming information without the wisdom to apply it.
If you want to heal your body, help your family, and become a trusted herbalist, you need more than just a list of herbs. You need the wisdom to understand how to use them, when to use them, and in what amounts.

So, What Should You Do Instead?
If you’re serious about holistic herbalism, stop relying on Google. Instead, learn herbs through understanding their actions, energetics, body systems, and how they relate to the stages of illness. Use credible books and trusted sources to deepen your knowledge.
But don’t stop there—become an observer.
Watch your body, observe how your clients respond to different herbs, take notes, and refine your approach over time. Herbalism is an ongoing practice, and you can’t learn it just by reading.
You must live it, experience it,
and feel it in your own body.
If you’re ready to become a trusted herbalist for your family and community, I invite you to apply for the Holistic Practitioner Program. In this course, we dive deep into biblical frameworks, clinical strategies, and real-life applications so you can see results and serve from a place of wisdom.
Herbalism is about more than memorizing herbs or getting certifications—it’s about learning to discern, observe, and heal the way Yah intended.
If you made it to the end of this video or blog post, thank you so much for watching!
I hope you feel inspired to take your herbalism practice to the next level.
See you in the next one!
